Egypt has expressed newfound interest in allowing Israel to construct a moat along the Philadelphi Route separating Sinai from Gaza to combat Palestinian weapons smuggling, say senior Israeli defense officials. Last month, the head of the IDF Planning Branch, Maj.-Gen. Ido Nehushtan, traveled to Egypt for talks with security officials there about areas of cooperation. Nehushtan raised the possibility of the moat with the Egyptians and was told that they would consider it positively.
Taiwan’s Nazi Movement
A Nazi organization which promotes a fascist ideology of national unity and strength, and reveres Adolf Hitler, is seeking official status in Taiwan — much to the fury of Jewish groups.The emergence of a Nazi group in Taiwan that reveres Adolf Hitler and advocates curbing immigration has been condemned by an international Jewish human rights organization.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center on Tuesday hit out at the National Socialism Association of Taiwan (NSA) on Tuesday for championing the former Nazi dictator. “In the global interconnected world we live in, it is unacceptable anywhere to seek to promote the policies and images of Hitler and Nazi Germany as worthy of emulation,” Simon Wiesenthal Centrer Associate Dean Rabbi Abraham Cooper said in a statement.
The year-old NSA is seeking the status of a non-governmental organization from the Taiwanese authorities and plans to hold its inaugural convention this coming Saturday. The controversial association has around 1,000 members, mostly of college age, who use their Web site to publicize their extremist views. The Web site is emblazoned with a Nazi swastika and says the group’s ranks are reserved for people “who do not dislike Hitler.”
One contributor to the Web site’s discussion forum advocates policies on immigrant workers that bring to mind the German National Socialists’ final solution. “If foreign laborers have children in Taiwan the government must exterminate them,” the blogger writes. He adds: “In order to stop our genetic stock from further deterioration, strict monitoring and cruel punishments are called for.”
Another contributor to the online blog writes: “What Hitler meant by ’superior race’ is superior cultural content and not biological phenotype.” Other members of the NSA have posted photos of themselves on the Internet posing in German army uniforms.
Taiwan, which has a population of 23 million, currently hosts about 300,000 immigrant workers, most of them from neighboring countries in South-East Asia. The self-styled NSA leader, 23-year-old Yue Shu-ya, thinks that Taiwan could learn useful lessons from the Führer’s welfare state model. “We want to study Hitler’s good points, not study his massacres,” he said. “It has nothing to do with Naziism.”

If hundreds of terrorists are released in exchange for abducted IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit, they will pose an immediate threat to Israel, a high-ranking defense official said. Should the government accede to the demand, the official said, the IDF would need to modify the way it operates in the West Bank. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has expressed “disappointment and reservations” over the list of prisoners, which is said to include as many as 450 murderers. “The Palestinians in prison have the terror know-how and the influence over the terror groups,” the defense official said. “If they are released they will be taking those qualities with them and we will need to be prepared.”
Italian welcomes rejection of Nazi war criminal’s lawsuit

Goni, an Argentine researcher and journalist said he feels “a strong sense of relief” after a three year battle in Italian courts ended with convicted Nazi war criminal Erich Priebke’s lawsuit against him being thrown out. Goni was referring to a Milan court’s March 23 decision to reject a claim by Priebke, who had sued Goni and his Italian publisher for 50,000 euros for libel. The court not only tossed out Priebke’s claim as unfounded but assessed him legal costs of nearly $11,000.Priebke is known for filing lawsuits, and Italian newspapers and magazines rejected many other articles for fear of being sued byPriebke or his lawyer, Lorenzo Borre, Goni said. Priebke was discovered in 1995 living in Bariloche, a city in Argentina’s western Andes Mountains, by an ABC-TV team of reporter Sam Donaldson and producers Harry Phillips and Delilah Herbst.
He was deported to Italy, where he was found responsible for thedeaths of 335 people in what has come to be known as theArdeatine Caves Massacre. Priebke and a group of SS officers rounded up Jews and Italian partisans in Rome, led them to the caves outside the city and shot and killed them with bullets to the back of the neck.
Priebke was given a life sentence, which he has been serving under house arrest in the home of his attorney, Borre. He has become an assiduous reader of articles about himself, and he and Borre have become infamous for their spate of lawsuits.

An extreme-right wing extremist who was deportedfrom Canada to face trial in Germany for spreading racist propaganda over the Internet was denied an audience with Canada’s top justices Thursday. The Supreme Court of Canada rejected Ernst Zundel’s appeal that he was unlawfully detained and deported from Canada in 2005, after being ruled a threat to national security because of his links to white supremacists and neo-Nazi groups. Zundel, 67, had sought 10 million Canadian dollars (around 6,5 million euros) in damages. In February, a German court convicted Zundel on 14 counts of incitement of racial hatred, causing offence, and disturbing thepeace of the dead by publishing and distributing anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi materials. He was sentenced to five years in prison — the maximum sentence allowed under German law for denying the Holocaust.

It’s not too late to convict Nazis

Despite the more than 60 years that have passed since the Holocaust, the number of Nazi war criminals being convicted is on the rise, a report released Thursday by the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles shows. Nineteen Nazi war criminals were convicted over the last year,up from 16 a year earlier and five the year before that, according to the center’s seventh annual report. Fourteen of the 19 Nazis found guilty last year were convicted in absentia in Italy.The report slams Germany, Austria and Poland for failing toachieve “any progress” against the war criminals over the lastyear despite hundreds of cases under investigation.
“While it is generally assumed that it is the age of the suspects that is the biggest obstacle to prosecution, in many cases it is the lack of political will, more than anything else, that has hindered the efforts to bring Holocaust perpetrators to justice, along with the mistaken notion that it was impossible at this point to locate, identify, and convict these criminals,”Zuroff said.
The center commends Italy for becoming the second most successful country, after the United States, in the prosecutionof Nazi war criminals, even if the Italian convictions were carried out in absentia and the criminals have yet to be extradited or to serve jail terms.

Using statistics to lie about discrimination
How Ha’aretz and ‘Sikkuy: The Association for the Advancement of Civic Equality in Israel’ lie to mangle statistics. An excerpt from Steven Plaut via The Jewish Press:
Mark Twain once said there are three sorts of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.Of the last group, the worst are ‘advocacy statistics’. These are fabrications by advocacy groups that invent ’statistics’ to advance political agendas. There are lots of these around, and they’re familiar to all of us. They range from the supposed ten percent of humans who are homosexual, to the make-pretend numbers of Iraqi civilians who supposedly died in the Allied invasion of Iraq, to estimates of the numbers of Palestinian refugees, to the instances of college date-rapes alleged by feminist groups.
In Israel lately, several groups trying to paint Israeli Arabs as victims of discrimination have become masters at turning out false advocacy statistics. And these are generally eaten up and taken at face value by Israel’s leftist journalists and the Bash-Israel world media.
